KrisFlyer Miles - Earning & Expiry

You can earn KrisFlyer Miles by flying with Singapore Airlines or choosing to make a purchase with one of the many KrisFlyer partners which include all the major car hire companies, publishers and petrol retailers. The amount of KrisFlyer Miles you earn on flights will be determined by your booking class and the distance travelled.

The KrisFlyer program consistently offers amongst the highest reward point earn rates on its flights. The current KrisFlyer Miles earn rates on Singapore Airlines are as follows:

  • Economy flights: 100% air miles points for miles flown
  • Business Class flights: 125% air miles points for miles flown
  • First Class flights: 150% air miles points for miles flown
  • Singapore Airlines Suites: 300% of the mileage flown

Generous KrisFlyer Mile earn rates are frequently offered by the extensive list of Singapore Airlines partners. Partner Hotels include Hilton Hotels, Marriot, Hyatt and Taj, with Avis, Hertz and Europcar as longstanding hire car partners.

KrisFlyer Miles expire after three years unless they are earned in a contest, in which case they last one year.  KrisFlyer Miles which are approaching the 3 year expiry date can be saved by buying an extension to the life of the miles, extensions can be purchased, using KrisFlyer Miles, via the KrisFlyer online store.

Redeeming Krisflyer Miles

Redeeming KrisFlyer miles online for award tickets and upgrades can be achieved in a number of ways. You can use your KrisFlyer miles to pay for all or a part of your airfare on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir. Alternatively, if you do not have enough KrisFlyer miles, you can also mix miles and cash for your next Singapore Airlines/SilkAir airfare.

Unique to the redemption of KrisFlyer Miles is that KrisFlyer offers a 15% discount on all awards on Singapore Airlines if you book online (as well as by phone, if your award is not bookable online, such as combining different classes of service).

PPS Club

Based on spend rather than distance flown, PPS Club membership is granted after spending at least S$25,000 (approximately AUS$25,000) on first and business class fares with Singapore Airlines, each year, for your own travel.

While employer-funded travel and amounts paid for fuel surcharges contribute to your spend level, any airport and government taxes are excluded from calculations.

Over and above Elite Gold Membership, PPS membership offers the ability to book a confirmed economy seat on an already-full flight, provided you are willing to purchase the most expensive and flexible ticket, and includes a baggage allowance double that of the regular fare. The full range of premium benefits provided to PPS Members is:

  • Extra baggage allowance - offered through Star Alliance Gold status and separate partnerships with both Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic.
  • PPS Club members VIP treatment - Singapore Airlines knows the value of these members and shows their appreciation with annual gifts and undisclosed incentives in return for retaining their membership.
  • Singapore SilverKris lounges access - Provided regardless of the seat level the member is travelling
  • Complimentary worldwide emergency assistance - overseas medical and travel accident insurance including priority customer service lines.
  • 25% Tier Bonus on KrisFlyer Miles - PPS Members receive a 25% tier bonus on the actual number of miles flown on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Virgin Atlantic when they credit the miles to their KrisFlyer account.  All Singapore Airlines and SilkAir booking classes except for Economy Class tickets issued in G, K, N, Q and V booking classes are eligible for this bonus.
  • Priority Reservation Waitlist - When you are waitlisted for a flight on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Star Alliance partner airlines, PPS Members will be given priority should a seat become available.. This privilege is also offered to your immediate family members (spouse and children) if they are travelling with you on the same flight operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir.
  • Priority Airport Standby - If you need to take a flight at short notice and do not have a confirmed reservation, PPS Members will be given priority on airport standby lists for flights on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Star Alliance partner airlines or Virgin Atlantic.
  • Priority Check-in - PPS Member are able to check in at the Business Class counter when travelling in Premium Economy or Economy Class on Singapore Airlines, or Economy Class on SilkAir. Immediate family members travelling with PPS Members on the same flight are also invited to check in at the Business Class counter.

Solitaire PPS Club

The highest rank in the KrisFlyer Miles Program is Solitaire PPS Club - which is reserved for those flying consistently with Singapore Airlines over a 5 year period, evidenced by the spend required to be awarded this premium membership level.

Invitations to join the Solitaire Club are reserved for Loyal Singapore Airline customers who have spent at least S$250,000 (approximately AUS$250,000) of their own first and business class travel with Singapore Airlines and SilkAir over any 5 year period, and as with the lower PPS Club tier, amounts spent on airport taxes or economy flights don’t count.

Once you’re at the upper echelon of the KrisFlyer Miles program, first class check-in desks are yours to use when travelling at any level be it economy, business or first, plus a free supplementary Solitaire PPS card is offered to your spouse. Which is a similar service to that offered to Qantas Chairman Lounge Members

The SilverKris Lounges in Singapore can be used on arrival, as can the Virgin Atlantic Revivals Lounge in London Heathrow.

Retaining Solitaire PPS status requires a more modest S$25,000 (Approximately AUS$25,000) annual spend on premium travel - matching the initial qualification level for regular PPS Club status.
